Next topic for discussion: Dental Cavities and toothache management with #ayurveda….

Germany Helga Fuchs: Vd Rachana, no Fluorid. Yes it helps for cavity, but studys think that Fluorid create Arthritis, Diabetes, Thyroidsickness, kidneysickness and more. Here in Germany 40 years before the start to give Fluorid Tablets in schools, then she find out Fluorid is a poisoning Substanz. Not so bad as fluor, this is strong poison.  Please remember the problems in India and China some years ago from drinking fluoridrichwater. 1-4 mg in 1liter. She got serious Problems with bones (asthi). She got bonefluorose, what means very strong bonesmass but so hard, that stiffness comes. Bones lost her natural movementkapazity. Here on toothpaste now must be a warning that Fluorid is in. We start to avoid this tootpast. Please give this message to your dentist. And go for Ayurveda. Ashwaganda is most useful for cavitys in teeth. This I find out with klients who are given ashwaganda for other Problems on asthi. After 3 months I stop, and her dentist was wondering that she have no cavitys. The last 20 years she was 2 times in 1 year to repair her cavitys. Foodhabits should be good and mouthcleaning after meal. Klient was VP.

Vd. Vishal Patel: Was ashwagandha given internally or was used to fill up the cavity

Anand Javeri: 👏👏👌👌Helga

Germany Helga Fuchs: Dr. Vishal, internally. 1 tsp with ghee morning and evening. How much depents on prakruti/vikruti of klient. No standard dosis in Ayurveda.

Germany Helga Fuchs: 🙏

Dr. Rachana Mumbai: Experts pls suggest what should be done for cavities other than wat helga suggested

USA Gary Yuen: Eating a diet according to ayurveda will help a lot to eliminate tooth pain from cavities. Chinese medicine recommends soups made from bone marrow. Brush soon after meals. Foods higher in calcium magnesium phosphorus vitamin A etc all needed for bones help. More than calcium is needed. Morninga leaves may be among the best. Raktashali or red rice barley mung. Sesame seeds. In addition to brushing and oil pulling, triphala may help to clean mouth. Some use colloidal silver. Bhringaraj may help for healing cavities.
USA Gary Yuen: It is possible to have a cavity and feel no pain. If it is possible to heal with diet and herbs, i am not sure but i think maybe and it seems possible.

Dr. Ravindra Upadhyay: As long as there is no infection one will not have pain. Even Diabetics do not have pain because of Autonomic Neuropathy

USA Gary Yuen: Neem garlic cloves other herbs maybe colloidal silver, some Westerns believe it works, I think can help with infections.

Dr. Ravindra Upadhyay: Acidity is one of the causes of cavities. Prevent acidity. Treat acidity.

USA Gary Yuen: A good question would be how to heal cavities and damaged teeth. This requires very specific knowledge of foods spices herbs like yava raktashali millet morninga cumin fennel. Etc.

USA Gary Yuen: Of collodial silver, it's possible that works to reduce bacteria. Once i had inflamed gums from a damaged tooth. Garlic and cloves helped but silver along with a a Westernized ayurvedic neem peppermint mouthwash..worked…For healing cavities i am not sure. Modern studies show calcium phosphorus vitamin D maybe A and potassium and more are needed for bone health. If there is a ranked list of mineral content of herbs that would help. Cumin fennel cloves and very likely shilajhit are helpful for bone health. Kale watercress mustard greens are among higher calcium foods…One study showed that after eating vegetables, being in the sun created CoQ10, likely also helpful.

Vd. Devang patel: Is anyone had used kshara or ksharasutra in dental cavity??? One my sir used KsharSutra in dental cavity

Dr. Bhavesh Modh:

Australia Vd. Neerja Ahuja: Hindi or English name if possible? Plz

USA Gary Yuen: Can the tree heal a cavity? That I think is a better question. Following all of ayurveda. Diet herbs spices to reduce and eliminate pain and then heal and build strength.

Dr. Bhavesh Modh: तेजोबल..

Dr. Rachana Mumbai: Daily put one drop of Thieves CPTG essential oil on fluoride free toothpaste and brushing will help to reduce tooth cavity.

Germany Helga Fuchs: Maybe a mistake here about my post before. I think the  Ashwaganda was not healing the cavities of my klient. I think Ashwaganda was a help to safe her tooths. She was not getting new ones, what regular happens. She was very strikt to clean her teeths after food about her troubles with them, but this was not enough. In my understanding nerves, asthi and teeth as byproduct of asthi, are connectet. If nerve ( majja, I think it is some more as only that) and asthi get stronger, then teeth must be better. Child should get a good routine, early sleep, oilmassage, no spicy food, vegetables and cooked milk with ghee daily, it should help. Dentist should repair the cavities and then start regular cleaning of teeth. This should help a lot. Asthi must get his nutrients, Ayurveda Doc can give some herbs and chyavanprash. I do not know how old the girl is, but in kapha state to grow up needs to make dhatu stabil.

USA Gary Yuen: Kapha or any dosha was originally a mark or imperfection. Following ayurveda, the goal is to be tridoshic through diet herbs spiritual practice, having a purpose in life, removing bad spirits etc. Of herbs, i think bhringaraj is one of the main herbs for asthi dhatu problems.

Dr. Jayshree Y. Mahajan:  Clove oil: Clove is one of the most important ingredients to in treating dental or oral conditions. It is used in many toothpastes, mouthwashes, and oral care medications. It is a flower bud of a evergreen tree that has numerous medicinal properties. Clove is rich in minerals such as calcium, hydrochloric acid, iron, phosphorus, sodium, potassium, and vitamin A, vitamin C and a powerful compound called ‘eugenol.’ Clove anti microbial and anti-septic properties of clove oil makes it perfect for treating cavities, bleeding gum, bad breath, tooth ache, sore gum, and mouth ulcers. Dilute clove oil with sesame seed oil, pour couple of drops in a cotton ball and put at the end of the tooth which has the cavity. Do this every night before going to bed.

Keeping a whole clove under the tongue after eating is also beneficial. Chew lightly on the clove and keep it under the tongue. This is a breath freshener and will keep the teeth and gum strong.

Slovenia Anoop S. Anand: 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻Nice one..Clove oil is indeed very helpful
ACTION OF TRIPHALA ..Anticaries activity
Despite several antiplaque agents available in the market, the search
for an effective agent still continues. Several undesirable side-effects
associated with these agents stimulated the search for alternate agents.
Plants or plant products used in folk dental practices or prescribed in
Unani, homeopathic, or ayurvedic remedies are now gaining attention
given their acclaimed medicinal properties. T. chebula is valuable in the
prevention and treatment of several diseases of the mouth such as dental
caries, spongy and bleeding gums, gingivitis, and stomatitis. The extract
could successfully prevent plaque formation on the surface of the tooth
as it inhibited the sucrose-induced adherence and the glucan-induced
aggregation, the two processes which foster the colonization of the
organism on the surface of the tooth. Thus, the extract of T. chebula
may be an effective agent in the treatment of carious teeth, owing to
its ability to inhibit the growth and accumulation of S. mutans on the
surface of the tooth. This would prevent the accumulation of acids on
the surface of the tooth, and thus the further demineralization and the
breakdown of the tooth enamel.
Triphala as a root canal irrigant
Primary endodontic infections are caused by oral microorganisms,
which are usually opportunistic pathogens that may invade a root canal
containing necrotic tissue and establish an infectious process. The
number of facultative anaerobic bacteria increases when the root canal
remains infected for long periods. Enterococcus faecalis, a facultative
anaerobic Gram-positive coccus is the most common Enterococcus
sp. cultured from non-healing endodontic cases. Sodium hypochlorite
(NaOCl) is an efficient irrigant used in eliminating E. faecalis biofilms
in vitro, but its main disadvantages are its unpleasant taste, high
toxicity, and its inability to remove the smear layer. Triphala has shown
significant antibacterial activity against 3 and 6 weeks biofilms. The
use of herbal alternatives as a root canal irrigant might prove to be
advantageous considering the several undesirable characteristics of
NaOCl…Triphala as a mouth rinse
Ayurvedic drugs have been used since ancient times. Oral rinses made
from these are used in periodontal therapy. Triphala is one of these
with a wide spectrum of activity. According to the Sushruta Samhita,
Triphala can be used as a gargling agent in dental diseases. 0.6%
Triphala mouthwash has shown to have significant anticaries activity,
which is comparable to that of chlorhexidine without possessing
disadvantages as staining of teeth and at much less cost although there
was no evidence of remineralization of tooth structure [14].
Triphala mouth rinse, when combined with scaling and root planing,
showed a significant reduction in the plaque, gingival, and oral hygiene
indices without any evidence of staining of teeth at 7, 30, and 45 days,
which was comparable to reduction obtained by chlorhexidine mouth
rinse in combination with scaling and root planing [10].
Triphala mouthwash twice-daily combined with metronidazole
400 mg thrice-daily when compared with 0.2% chlorhexidine with
metronidazole 400 mg thrice-daily and Triphala mouthwash with oral
powder of Triphala in a 1 month study showed improvement in clinical
indices in terms of reduction in tooth mobility, pocket depth, bleeding
gums, sensitivity to hot and cold, and calculus formation with minimal
recurrence in all the clinical parameters [15].

USA Gary Yuen: Garlic too perhaps. Fennel and cumin also seem to have mineral profiles that help to strengthen teeth. The question remains of how to heal. Moringa is among the better vegetables. Whole grains like red rice barley millet..gavedukha etc but I do not know what is best. Figs are also good. Sesame seeds. Black or white? Which other vegetables? Many questions about diet.
An ok list of nutrients and food ranks. It would be very helpful to have all herbs classified by minerals. Lists of all herbs and foods for asthi dhatu would help. http://www.whfoods.com/nutrientstoc.php

Dr. Vidhi Joshi: Black tea bag : Tea is full of tannic acid,  is an astringent , relieves a pain & help in healing process Put a soaked tea bag on the tooth. Keep a bit of pressure on it as long as possible,  give effective result in toothache..Backing soda : Make a mouthwash by dissolving one tablespoon of baking soda into 1/2 a cup of cold water.  but often use of it wash out most outer layer of teeth i.e.enemal
Pepper power. N clove oil mixture give instant relief in toothache...As same combo of salt n pepper powder directly put over affected area gives u instant relief in aching teeth

USA Gary Yuen: I am not sure if fluoride is a natural component of tea but today much tea contains it. I have never heard of and do not know the effect of tea on asthi dhatu.

Vd. Sandeep J. Prasad: Putting Cotton soaked in amrut dhara will also reduce tooth pain.

Shri Minoo parabia: An humble opinion: Relief in pain using counter irritant is symptomatic. Necessary but not curative, has to be considered. More over to a person with sensitive mucosa it becomes a nightmare later.

Dr. Madhuri Patil Chaudhari: yes, Clove oil or any counter irritant can Irritate mouth mucosa and may precipitate stomatitis or tenderness.
Fact is if dental pain is Acute only painkillers and anti-inflammatory work.

USA Sivakami Kapoor: Himalayan salt + little baking soda also works…Brushing your teeth couple of times in a day works

Dr. P. A. Deshpande: Two issues r under discussion. Tooth gaps and pains. For first problem the causes r  .. . Hyegene  addiction  , acidity and  malnutrition  correction of these causes will help to bridge the gaps.  Chewing wheat grass with ice reduces pains due to anti-inflammatory  properties  in grass.   chlorophyll  purifies  ukceration by releasing  oxygen . Heat reduction by mild laxative.

USA Gary Yuen: Does anyone have experience healing cavities? In Caraka, i can find only one formula. Cikitsasthana 26.199. "An excellent medication against all affections of teeth, the mouth, and throat."
Khadiri gatika and khadiri taila..Anyone know of this formula?..Name is khadiradi gatika/taila…http://ayurmedinfo.com/2012/06/28/khadiradi-vati/
..http://www.liveayurvedalife.com/khadiradi-gulika/

Dr. Nilaxi Vala:

Dr. Arvind Shahane: Kapur(campher)+
Ajmana phool+Menthol+Mix all Put 2-3 drops with cotton in cavities ..Excellent result for pain

Vd. Dhruti Kagrana: Put cotton swab of Hingu( Ferula narthex) + Ghee ( Ghurta) in toothache gives temporary relief in pain..

Shri Minoo parabia: When Thymol menthol and camphor crystals are kept together,  they dissolve.

Dr. Hardikchandra Kalal: Always try to 1st diagnosis than treatment.
Mostly we give symptomatic pain relief with.kapur+ menthol+ ajmet as local application , panchvalkal kwath for kaval, irimedadi oil for local application.. Etc.
Such type any other treatment in toothache condition.
In many condition after 2 to 3 time treatment of ayu doctor  pt go to dentist .
And dentist is  insult to the pt and also Ayurveda. And some of condition, dentist is right because we don't diagnose and treat the pt properly and inform about surety of result.
At that time we loose our pt and also respect.
So, We should try to perfect diagnosis of dantrog then decision for treatment or refer or advice .otherwise we should not treat the pt.
We can't treat all disease with perfection .So when we  are able to treatment of pt then treat otherwise refer to dentist or ayu dentist.

Dr. M. Dilawar A. Khan: Actually this protocol should b followed...

USA Gary Yuen: I still believe it may be possible to heal cavities if one is able to completely follow ayurvedic principles. For example not having an excess of kapha is also very possible yet even may ayurvedic doctors do not eat in the needed way. This study shows multiple nutrients needed for bone health – potassium, magnesium, fiber, β-carotene, and vitamin C – and need for fruits and vegetables. Lentils/beans/dal and grains likely also necessary though maybe not yet studied. http://ajcn.nutrition.org/content/71/1/142.long

As many minerals and vitamins are important for asthi dhatu, for example, here is one place to search for a ranked list. This of calcium.https://nutritiondata.self.com/foods-002118000000000000000-w.html Notice some spices are better like ajmoda (celery seed), kasa bijam (poppy seed), possibly tulsi, mint,  dhanyaka (coriander), tvak (cinnamon), cumin, cloves, black pepper/pippali, cardamom…https://nutritiondata.self.com/foods-002118000000000000000-w.html

Dr. J. T. Contractor: Chocolate, chewing gum, sweets, not brushing teeth before bed are main reasons for tooth trouble, if prevented properly can save life of teeth, in case of emergency camphor wrapped in burnt cotton, pressed under the painful tooth provides relief

USA Gary Yuen: Once i had severe tooth pain where it was difficult to sleep. Some herbs helped reduce pain but after a Western ayurvedic mouthwash with neem cinnamon cloves aloe cardamom star anise as well as collodial silver, pain completely disappeared. I am not sure which herb it was, but if there is a severe cavity, it is possible to use herbs and diet and feel no pain. It does seem that continuing proper habits, they can heal.

Vd. Bharati  S. Deshmukh: For  teeth  pain erimedhadi oil gandush  is  also  work  nicely. But  to avoid  recarens the  propar ashti  dhatu  treatment  is  required & local  cleaning…Morning  time ayu.. advice  to  use  katu  tiktat kashay  ras  for  tooth  cleaning  but  now  days  almost  people  use madhur ras  tooth paste  which  Is  harmful  to teeth & body  also
Dr. Sachinkumar Jinture: pain - Oil alwys helps it !..right mdm

Vd. Bharati  S. Deshmukh: Right..Vat  shaman

Dr. Sachinkumar Jinture: becoz in the morning Kaf dosh is more aggregative
dant dhavan 2 times a day is  more imp for the health of teeth as well as mouth

Dr. Anuja Marwar: One more thing that we should end up our meal with kashya Ras..now a days usually end up our meal with Madhur ras that's very hatmful for teeth..

Dr. Sachinkumar Jinture: and that time if we us Kashay ras pradhan drvya for dant dhavan it helpful to the teeth
