Today's topic for discussion: # Hypothyroidism..and ayurveda approach....life style changes, diet recommandetions etc

Dr. satyendra Sharma: Hypothyroidism that low thyroid function. Hypothyroidism is commonaly associated with cholesterol abnormalities, elevated C reactive protein elevated homocystin. Hypothyroidism caused metabolism to slow down. It has more than a dozen symptoms starting with fatigue. Weakness, aching muscles, osteoporosis. TSH hormone present in each and every cell of body and helps in energy production.Iow iodine can lead to poor thyroid function can cause a range of mental health symptoms related to the endocrine system, memory problems, tendency towards depression and insomnia. The thyroid gland needs iodine to produce hormones including the hormone calcitonin which together with parathyroid hormone regulates the body's calcium balance. Iefy vegetables, germinated grains ,nuts Flaxseed which is rich in iodine, selenium, magnesium and omega 3 improve hypothyroidism  and related symptoms, Prabal bhasm and Trikatu power(sonth ,kalimirch and pepper) with honey twice in  a day ,are very effective for hypothyroidism .Alongwith  adequate exercise, sounds keep, positive mental attitude, and right nutrition is essential.Avoid  sugar ,maida and sedentary habit …sound sleep

DR. Jenil Nayak Valsad: Actually we r always try to find the treatment of any disease...for hypothyroidism too... As a vaidya I just need to find only 4 things.1. Dosh. 2 dushya. 3. Sthan sanshray  4 samprapti......ayurveda says samprapti vighatan e v chikitsha...so as what I see in opd that there r different samprapti in different people for same hypothyroidism... ( its just same sthan sansray) rest three are may be different...so according to all four things treatment changes...
I find hypothyroidism's treatment in ajirna...I m not telling u but just read ajirna again and u will surprise to see its there ..( all symptoms ...just u will find...)

Dr. Rachana Mumbai: I totally agree dr jenil that we always want to know the treatment. Will definitely read ajirna.... Only knowing the treatment is not going to help as per ayurved samprarpti vighatan is necessary

Usa - Vd. Sucheta: Yoga helps a lot like sarvangaasana,Surya namaskar and Halasana.

Vd. Krup Vasavada: "Gomutra Haritaki" has Given good results in Hypothyroidism ....With the combination of  Kanchnar Guggulu ....Ujjayi pranayam ..: The most effective  pranayama is ujjayi. It acts on the throat, and its relaxing and stimulating effects are most probably due to stimulation of ancient reflex pathways within the throat area..So this is benificial pratice in Hypothyroidism. ..

Dr. Dipa Mehta: Pippali is useful because it is deepan and pachan.

Dr Sandeep Madaan: Hypothyroidism needs stimulating herbs Like pippali marich and anti stress herbs like brahmi.  The wt gain, water retention are taken care of by guggulu and punarnva.  These I use in combination

Vd. Dhruti Nirav Bhatt: Hypothyroidism - Vardhmanpippli prayog gives very good result. Dipan pachan must, Kanchnar guggulu,Varunadikwath, Medohar Vidangadi loh. ….Pranayam gives best result

Dr. Nilesh Italia: Hypothyroifism is consider as a kaphaj soth.and we have to treat it with a gomutra haritakee.

Dr. Hardik- MD: We can corelate hypothyroidism in our ayurveda as santarpanottha vyadhi. So we can treat it with mustadi or trifaladi kwath as mentioned in charak sutra 23. Varunadigana kwath for shoth, kafa and meda dushti.Kanchnara guggalu also for prevent goiter or shotha.

Dr. Prerak Shah: My opinion -  all secretions - hormones of thyroid gland - T3, T4 and TSH are involved in enabolisn, ketabolism and metabolism. So functionally thyroid is more related with Agni Sthan. Hypothyroid can be considered as Agni disturbances.

Vd. Pankaj Chhayani: Once I read about a research that special smell like paint smell in new house can stimulate anterior pituitary and can cause Increased TSH...In many cases, only TSH is increased while t3, t4 are within normal range and there is no bradycardia or feeling of cold,in such cases I think metabolism is not disturbed...

Shri Minoo parabia: Well, it depends on, how you consider. In hypothyroidism body's metabolic activities go down and in hyper it goes up in simple words.
With decreased body metabolism metabolites will not be consumed and shall get accumulated resulting in increased body weight. Vice versa for hyper

Vd. Mahesh Akani: Hypothyroidism is like that Kafaj Pandu or Med dhatvagni mand janya disease

From Group3:
Vd. Anup thaker:
Vaman or Virechana controls it very well but have to perform it at regular interval to maintain the levels

Parabia sir:
Goxuradi guggulu
Rasayan churna
Trifala churna
This was found effective.

Vd. Mahesh akhani - Palanpur:
In Hypothyroidism we worked in many case by virechan karma and give medicine as 1, jaljamani powder cap 2, kanchnar gugulu 3, punarnava gugulu or mandur. 4, medbal tab by A F A.        as per dignosis of Med doshaj vyadhi. Result are so good , control tsh report , stop completely any other medicines but takes above medicine regular or irregular .

From Group 5:
Dr. Sudhirbhai shah:
Whenever u post a disease , pl write tech name of Ayurveda and its ref in great 9
Like what is hypothyroidism in Ayurveda

Group 6:
Vd. Pankaj Chhayani:
TSH comes to normal within 2 months by ayurved Rx, but as medicine stop, TSH further increased...I saw same pattern in more than 5 pts...Im trying to control only single herb or Yoga so that pt can take for long time same as Thyroxin..
Im trying to control TSH only bye single Herb or Yoga so that pt can take it for long time like thyroxin..
I use all measures which charaka has described in Sutra 21(astaunindatiya)..
Some vaidya uses Vardhamana pippali(ref. sodhal-Galgand chikitsa)..some uses gomutra haritaki (shotha and pandu chilitsa- charaka)
In cases where T3,T4 normal and pt is asymptomatic, we must see Nadi  and body temp...and body temp and nadi are normal there is no need to worry...
Many good lab write some info regarding cause iodine, lithium increase TSH while Dopamine decrease TSH
So there is Q that Iodized salt is good for health or not? Or we must suggest salt without iodine or rock salt?

Vd. Mehulbhai Sanghani:
Nahi sarv vikaranam namatoasti dhruv..
Thyroid hypo ya hyper kisibhi rog k sath compair karne ki bajay ye ek aisi vikruty hai jisme ham doshh ko saman karenge to dhatusamy kriya schokta tantrasy prayojanam se thik ki ja ti hai
Jaise most probably hypo me  kafvat Hyper me pittvat doshh hote hai koi b apvad ho sakta hai magar majority yehi hota hai is li a hyper me shatavari ghrut aur sayam kale trifla churn bhojan pashchat denese achha ho ta hai hypo me dashmukwath empty stomach aur haritaki sayam bhojan pashchat dene se achha hota hai..
Ek me chullika granthi shoth aur dusare me chulika granthi shoshh hota hai ek langhan upkram aur dusara brumhan upkram se thik hota hai...Yeh niram pt.ki bat hai
